When you hold a STEFANO RICCI tie, what first captivates you is the luster of the silk and its deep, rich colors. However, this beauty is not simply created by a machine imprinting a pattern all at once.
In June 2026, Ginza HIKO staff member Sato visited a silk printing workshop near Lake Como, which also produces fabrics for STEFANO RICCI and SILVIO FIORELLO. At the workshop, in addition to modern digital printing, traditional hand-screen printing is performed, where patterns are separated by color, and dyes are layered one by one on a long workbench.
Artisans blend colors while accounting for temperature and humidity. The tension of placing large screens with no room for error. The repetition of washing, drying, and layering the next color after each print. This accumulation results in clear color development, depth of color, beautiful color penetration to the back, and the inherent suppleness of silk.

The representative pleated ties we offer at Ginza HIKO feature an alternating structure of pleated and flat sections. Sixteen pleats are folded into each block, approximately 7 cm wide, with a total of eight such blocks. These 128 folds create a sculptural expression in the silk.
To uniformly fold diagonally cut, soft silk while maintaining a consistent width requires a significant amount of fabric, advanced techniques, and meticulous handwork. The changing luster and shadows that play across the tie with every movement are a unique charm of STEFANO RICCI, not found in flat ties.
The items on this page are not simply a collection of products from famous brands. Ginza HIKO selects them based on an aesthetic sense cultivated over many years, discerning the beauty of materials, tailoring, presence when worn, and the joy of owning such an item.
Representative Nakamura and buyer Sato continuously visit Italy, not only for business meetings in showrooms but also to inspect manufacturing sites such as weaving and printing workshops. By observing the creators' philosophies and processes with their own eyes, they can concretely convey the charm of each item.

Having gained experience in store operations, I am responsible for product selection and communication. I visit showrooms, workshops, and flagship stores in Italy, and share the knowledge gained there through our online store and blog.
To understand the background of STEFANO RICCI, the silk weaving culture rooted in Florence is indispensable. Ginza HIKO staff member Sato visited Antico Setificio Fiorentino, a historic silk weaving workshop.
At the workshop, historical equipment, including looms from the 1700s and 1800s, is still in operation, and artisans spend time creating textiles. Behind the vibrant finished products lies a long history and quiet repetition. Understanding this background further deepens the appreciation for silk products.
The video was shot on-site by Ginza HIKO staff member Sato. Please also watch the artisans operating the looms and listen to the sounds of the workshop.
